Death work isn’t something exclusive to death doulas, end-of-life doulas, death midwives, hospice and/or medical professionals.

Death work is for all of us.

Therefore, it isn’t to be done exclusively at the end of our lives, especially since no one knows when that will be.

Rather, it is a lifelong process of investigating the one thing each and every being on this earth will experience.

It is learning.
It is contemplating.
It is imagining.
It is creating.

Taylor Bell and Lacy Buynak, two life-long friends and death doulas, created The Art of Dying with this in mind.

  • We offer free community education to inspire conversation around aging, dying, and death.

  • We encourage pre-planning for everyone regardless of age or health status.

  • We guide those who have pets and animal companions in planning, supporting, ritualizing, and honoring their death.

  • We help those with a terminal diagnosis or in advanced age with final planning, which may include wrapping up their legal and logistical to-dos, planning celebrations, and/or offering comfort and care by way of our holistic services and companionship, including sitting vigil.

  • We support caretakers as a sounding board and confidant, as well as a resource for additional assistance.
